Team Nova Scotia Announced for National Rowing Championships

The National Rowing Championships are open to competitors from all over Canada as representatives of their home province. The small boat racing (singles and pairs) provides the ideal measure to assess the fastest rowers in the country, resulting in the naming of national champions. The Canada Cup portion that follows provides the opportunity for Canada’s developing rowers to compete against other provinces within larger crews that include National Team Athletes who are from their home province.

Row Nova Scotia is pleased to announce the six rowers who have been selected to represent Nova Scotia at the 2017 National Rowing Championships and Canada Cup (NRC-CC) Regatta taking place November 09-12 in Burnaby, BC.

– Claire Ellison – Halifax, N.S.
– Hannah Meeson – Halifax, N.S., currently rowing at University of Victoria
– Ben Walls – Halifax, N.S., currently rowing at the University of Victoria
– Cody Bailey – St. Mary’s, O.N., currently rowing in Victoria, B.C.
– Noel Balsor – Dartmouth, N.S.
– Tristan Kays – Bedford, N.S.

“We continue to build on our long term strategy of developing strong rowers in this province,” says Pat Cody, the Provincial Team Coach. “The sport of rowing is always progressing and national events like this not only showcase the hard work of our Nova Scotia athletes, but it also gives them the chance to improve their skills to become faster and stronger alongside the very best rowers in Canada.”
