Learn to Row Coach

As a Learn to Row (LTR) Coach you will have the privilege of taking an athlete that has never tried rowing on a journey that will give them the opportunity to love the sport as much as you do. Who Will You Coach?

You would coach individuals with no previous rowing experience who are in the Learn to Train stage of Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD). Athlete ages could range from 10 years old to 65, depending on the type of program. Programs could be for youth, kids camps, university students, and/or adults taking a Learn to Row course.

How Do You Become Certified?

Step 1 – Become Trained –Complete the 1.5 day LTR Coach Workshop in your area, led by experienced LTR Coach Learning Facilitators. This workshop will provide you with 12 lesson plans to use or adapt for your own program, introduces drills, and how to set up equipment, to ensure a comfortable, injury-free, rowing experience for your athletes.
Step 2 – Become Certified –Once you have gained experience coaching new rowers using what you have learned in the LTR Coach Workshop and feel you are prepared to be evaluated, submit the evaluation request below.

In order to be evaluated you will need to have the following completed:
1. Learn to Row Coach Workshop
2. Obtain a Pleasure Craft Operators Card (PCOC)
3. Emergency Action Plan
4. Prepare Learn to Row Lesson Plan
5. Making Ethical Decisions (MED) Online Evaluation

Once these are complete you are ready for your evaluation which encompasses a direct observation of your ability to analyze performance in a Learn to Row lesson.
