Patrick Cody Receives RCA Coach of the Year

At the RCA National Conference in Calgary, Ab., Row Nova Scotia Provincial Team Coach, Pat Cody received high recognition as he was awarded the RCA Coach of the Year at the RCA Excellence Awards.

Pat Cody is a coach that goes above and beyond to build better rowers, better teammates and better people. Pat is currently the Provincial Coach for Nova Scotia- in that role he established the Row Nova Scotia Coach Mentorship program – he had the vision that in order for the province to be successful at all levels in the sport, coaches needed to work together and help one another to become better.

Pat recently coached the Jw4x team to a 6th place finish at the Junior World Rowing Championships in Racice, Czech Republic and has previously coached World Champion Para Rower, Andrew Todd and Senior National team member Cody Bailey.

In the finest tradition of Volker Nolte, Pat will occasionally join his athletes on demanding workout or a local race. In doing this, he exemplifies and models several valuable things: a love of hard work, a supportive and collaborative training culture, and (not least) a life long passion for rowing.

A life-long passion for rowing couldn’t be more true and you know this passion fuels his daily actions that have positively impacted so many of us. He is a phenomenal coach and a leader in every sense of the word. We can all be assured that our sport is in great hands because of individuals like Pat Cody.
