2020 Patrick Convey Recognition Award – Extended to Wednesday, Oct. 14

The Patrick Convey Recognition Award fund was established to celebrate and remember the life of Patrick Convey by supporting an annual award to Nova Scotia rowing athletes and others involved in the sport of rowing who best exemplify the traits that made Patrick a special person. Specifically, a person with a passion for sharing his gifts, a commitment to rowing in Nova Scotia and athletic achievement in rowing.

We accept self-nominations and nominations of athletes, coaches and others involved in the sport of rowing. That means individuals can apply for themselves or nominate someone who they feel meets our criteria.

Our award recognizes both youth and older athletes and the differing life experiences and rowing resumes. We have two categories based on age: Category 1 is open to those age 25 years or younger; Category 2 is open to those age 26 years and older. Past applicants and past recipients are welcome to reapply.

For 2020, in addition to the criteria listed, we will look for examples of how the applicant/nominee helped others to keep their motivation to train despite the cancellation of all local, national, and international regatta events and how the individual demonstrated safety within their club and community.

The award amount for 2020 is $1500 for each award recipient and the deadline for applications has been extended to Wednesday, October 14, 2020. Nominations can be submitted to rowing@rowns.ca.
